Wilson Defends Outburst, Says He Will Not Apologize on House Floor – Political News – FOXNews.com

by on Sep.14, 2009, under Government, outrage

There was a time in the distant past of our republic that dissent was the standard that kept government honest.  Dissent was and still is the right, prerogative and duty of every citizen.  The duty to stand in defiance to the status-quo and give voice to their conscience.

“Dissent from public policy can be the highest form of patriotism,”
“I don’t think democracy can survive without it, even though you may be crucified by it at times.”–Dorothy Hewitt Hutchinson

This no longer appears to be the case in our republic as Wilson will be chastised and censured for daring to give voice to what he believes to be truth.

Decorum be damned, this is the type of fortitude that   has been lacking from the halls of Washington for far too long.

Rep. Joe Wilson said Sunday that he will not apologize on the House floor for his outburst during President Obama’s health care address, even though Democratic leaders have threatened to formally discipline him if he does not.

The face of patriotism?

The face of patriotism?

Wilson noted that he already apologized directly to the White House after shouting, “You lie,” to the president during his Wednesday address to a joint session of Congress. The outburst triggered a political firestorm, but Wilson told “FOX News Sunday” that Democrats are just “playing politics” by trying to drag out the issue and force another apology.
